Dell India to expand its SMB business portfolio

Dell plans to reach out smaller cities as part of its SMB strategy:


Dell has divulged plans to scale up its small and medium businesses by offering a bouquet of hardware, software and IT services across 22 growth cities within the country. The company has already set up offices in 12 cities, including Chandigarh, Jaipur, Surat, Baroda, Lucknow and Coimbatore.Dell India to expand its SMB business portfolio
As part of its SMB strategy, Dell is looking forward to work closely with emerging businesses in smaller cities to improve the worktechnology of smaller and medium enterprises.
The company, which has presence in over 200 cities through its distribution system- PartnerDirect channel programme, intends to reach over 8 million SMBs in the country. Dell is offering a host of SMB-specific technology solutions such as notebooks, enterprise products and power efficient servers to realize the full SMB potential.
Globally, SMB contributes over 25% to Dell's revenue. According to research firm Gartner, Dell had cornered a 16.7% market share for first quarter of 2011, much ahead of HP at 12.1% and Acer at 11.9%. The company's fiscal first quarter revenue improved 1% to $15 billion on the strength of its commercial enterprise business. Dell's revenue from BRIC countries grew 18%, with India revenue rising 28%.
Dell is actively involved in providing services such as Green IT, security, business continuity, improved collaboration and communication to its clients, eyeing IT and ITes as major growth areas.
The brand major aims to add high potential small manufacturing units, media animation and retail segments to its technology segment in the near future.
